Eve Online to Increase Monthly Subscriptions Due to “Global Trends”
Eve Online subscriptions are growing, including the one-month plan, which is growing for the first time since 2004.
In a blog post justifying the changes (thanks, PCGN), CCP says the hike “reflects global trends impacting overall production costs and explains years of inflation” and was introduced to “continue to invest in the evolution and growth of Eve Online. “.
“Since the original launch of Eve Online in 2003, together, the EVE developers and community have led the charge in evolving what sandbox MMOs can be,” the post explains.
“The past 19 years have seen incredible events that have brought us closer together, delivered vast expansions and game-changing feature enhancements, seen painstaking rebalancing to bring the best quality of experience, and welcomed technology updates that keep New Eden fresh. cutting edge – all in service of maintaining Eve’s status as the best MMO in the world.”
To continue to invest in the evolution and growth of EVE Online, and to fulfill our mission of EVE Forever, we are updating the pricing of Omega and PLEX. This adjustment reflects global trends impacting production costs and explains years of inflation. https://t.co/UaNPW3f6FJ

Therefore, the changes – which come into effect on May 17 – affect Omega and PLEX costs, the former introducing two new options (two months and 24 months), and the latter, which is the in-game currency, having been “entirely restructured”.
At this time, we have only received the changes as they apply to the US dollar, but the message clearly states that “these adjustments will impact other currencies”. The cost of the monthly subscription goes from $15 to $20, three months goes from $39 to $48, six months from $72 to $87 and 12 months from $131 to $150.
“We are committed to bringing you the absolute best version of Eve and a compelling future for New Eden,” the update concludes. “We look forward to meeting you in person and discussing this in detail at Fanfest in a few weeks.”
